Rugby ATL Roster to take on the Utah Warriors
Atlanta, Ga (Feb 8th, 2020). Coach Scott Lawrence has announced a strong roster to take on the Utah Warriors in the Rugby ATL Stadium at Life University’s Lupo Family Field on Sunday Feb 9th at 3pm.
“We see a lot of similarities in ourselves and Utah. Chris (Latham) has put together a team first atmosphere without highly paid superstars employing young American coaches. We’re looking forward to a tough contest against a team and a franchise we respect” Said Coach Lawrence.
The starting XV is highlighted by a first start for former Stormers Fly-Half Kurt Coleman and a slight shuffle in the back-row where room has been found to start rangy Marno Redelinghuys and imposing Ross Deacon alongside Canadian International and Co-Captain, Matt Heaton.
“Utah are an experienced side, they’ve been in the MLR since the inaugural season. We’re expecting a physical forward pack with lots of X factor in the backline. It’s going to be a very exciting game for fans and as players we are really looking forward to the challenge” said Heaton earlier this week.
Co-Captain and Center, Ryan Nell, was equally excited on the upcoming match. “We are looking forward to a good challenge from Utah, a team that is dangerous with ball in hand and have a number of strong players throughout their team! For us as Rugby ATL we are looking forward to getting out on the pitch and putting forward the hard work we have done in our pre-season. The fact that we have the privilege to play our first game of the MLR in front of our home crowd is definitely going to get the team fired up! We are proud of our home and want to build a fortress at our home pitch! We look forward to seeing all our fans at the stadium on Sunday and showing them what we are all about!” said ex South African Sevens start Nell.
The game will be streamed live on Rugby ATL’s Facebook page as well as covered on local TV Station 11 Alive. Limited reserved tickets are still available for sale at rugbyatl.rugby/tickets, and if needed General Admission tickets will be sold on game day to cater to walk up’s.
