Cam Wyper

With over 10 years of coaching and playing rugby, Cam Wyper comes to Rugby ATL with extensive experience in developing players and crafting winning teams.

Prior to his arrival in Georgia, Wyper was the Head Men’s Rugby Coach at Grand Canyon University (2017-2019). While there, the team competed in the D1A playoffs and came in as semi-finalists in 7s (2018) and quarter finalists (2019). With a 13-7 overall record in XVs play, GCU finished the past two seasons ranked no. 11 and no. 15 respectively.

Wyper was the Head 7’s Coach at Lindenwood University for three seasons and coached the team to win the USA Rugby D1A 7’s National Championship in 2015. 

With a tactical and multi-faceted coaching style, Wyper developed his skills as a player on an international stage. He has served as a National Representative for Scotland Rugby 7’s, played for University of Vigo Rugby (División De Honor, Spain), Dundee Rugby in the Scottish Premiership, and the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Brumbies Runners.  

Additionally, Wyper has represented the Canberra Vikings in the Australian Rugby Championships and NSW Country First XV in the Australian Rugby Shield. He has held the title “Player of the Year” for Central Northern Rugby U/21, Inverell Highlanders First XV, and NSW County Colts. 

Wyper received his Masters of Science in Sports Psychology at Grand Canyon University and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from Lindenwood University, which he has successfully put into practice with the Rugby ATL Academy, and the 404, Southeast Regional Development team, and will continue to share the importance of a healthy mind alongside a healthy body for all events and players to come. 

With a keen rugby mind and passion for the sport, Cam Wyper is ready to take on the role of developing players and working with Rugby ATL coaching staff to bring rugby to the next level in the ATL.
